Government give relaxation for sellout pre-gst stock with amended MRP till March 31, 2018

NEW DELHI:  Government gives relaxation for sellout pre-gst stock with New MRP till March 31, 2018.

Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan has said that  “In the last GST council meeting, GST rates were revised for about 200 items. For pre-gst stock, we have allowed pasting of stickers with revised MRP till March 31, 2018,” Paswan told reporters here on Saturday.

Few News Agencies had reported earlier on 13th of December that the department of consumer affairs was believed to relaxation the deadline for sellout pre-GST stock with  Amended MRP from 31st December this year to 31st, March, 2018.

whenever GST Effected the business, the companies were permitted to use Newly applied MRP on old stock commodities to show new maximum retail price before September End, which was later extended until December.

When rates of approx 200 items went down on 15th, November, the department allows pasting additional stickers under the Legal Metrology (Packaged Commodities) Rules, 2011.

To confirm GST cuts are passed on to consumers, Ram Vilash Paswan (Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution) had recently directed state legal metrology officers to check if companies are using the amended MRP stickers.
